Fossicking site (Showgrounds)

Tucked away just behind the showgrounds and south of the Flinders River travellers can fossick for free with no licence required. Our region sits just inside what was once the great ancient Eromanga sea, so naturally our region has an abundance of fossils. With so many dinosaur fossils found in the region, this is the perfect place to see if the kids can discover their own.

Hughenden is one of the major stops along the Dinosaur Trail. For dinosaur lovers and fossickers we invite you to stroll to the Hughenden Showgrounds and unearth your own dinosaur fossils.

With so many dinosaur fossils found in the region, this is the perfect place to see if the kids can discover their own. 

Travellers are advised that they will need to bring their own equipment or simply stop by and pick up a few of the rocks to take home as a memento then discover what they found long after the holiday is over.
